This lighthouse stands on the hilltop on the south end of Phuket Island. Inside is a collection of old lighthouse lenses, etc. It is called the "Golden Jubilee Lighthouse" because it was erected to celebrate the fiftieth year of King Rama IX's reign. In 2007 this King marked his sixtieth year on the throne and his eightieth birthday while he was the longest-reigning monarch in the world. He died in 2016. |
